READ LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE – Book 2 of the Red Tape & Ruin Series?

Join the ARC Team

What happens when everything you own becomes a subscription? Including the government.

Sarah Perriam has spent twenty years writing about technology, AI and the people convinced they are building the future.

Then her kettle stops boiling. Not because it is broken. Because the Full Boil Feature now requires a monthly subscription. It should be a ridiculous little story about a £24.99 kitchen appliance.

Instead, readers begin sending Sarah examples of washing machines, ovens, cars, fridges and other devices that have quietly had basic functions moved behind paywalls.

Then she discovers the same philosophy has spread much further than consumer technology.

Britain’s government AI systems are licensed. Their capabilities are tiered. Their thinking is metered. And the country is becoming dangerously dependent on technology it does not actually own.

What begins with a cup of tea becomes an investigation into corporate power, government dependency, surveillance, AI and a simple question:

If everything is rented, who is really in control?

Want to read it before publication?

I’m looking for Advance Reader Copy readers for Lifetime Subscription, Book Two in the Red Tape & Ruin series.

ARC readers receive a free digital copy of the book before publication in return for reading it and, if possible, leaving an honest review around launch.

There is no requirement to give the book a positive review.

There is no proofreading assignment. There is no obligation to promote it.

Just read it, enjoy it (hopefully) and tell other readers what you genuinely thought.

What do ARC readers do?

ARC stands for Advance Reader Copy.

Publishers and independent authors provide early copies of books to readers before publication so those readers can review them when the book launches.

If you join the Lifetime Subscription ARC team, I’ll send you a near-final digital copy of the novel before release.

All I ask is that you try to read it before publication and, if you can, leave an honest review afterwards.

Reviews can be short.

A few sentences saying what you liked, disliked or thought about the book are incredibly useful.

You do not need to write an essay.

Unless you really want to.

What you don’t have to do

You do not have to:

  • give the book five stars
  • write a positive review
  • proofread the manuscript
  • identify every typo
  • promote the book on social media
  • post photographs of yourself holding it beside an artfully positioned cup of coffee
  • pretend you enjoyed something if you didn’t

An honest review is far more useful than obligatory praise.

What I am looking for

You are probably a good fit for the ARC team if you:

  • enjoy thrillers, speculative fiction or satire
  • are interested in AI, technology and its impact on society
  • like British humour
  • are happy reading a digital advance copy
  • can hopefully finish the book before launch
  • are willing to leave an honest review once it is published

You do not need to be a professional reviewer, blogger or BookTok creator.

Regular readers are exactly who I want.

About Lifetime Subscription

Lifetime Subscription is the second novel in the Red Tape & Ruin series.

It follows technology journalist Sarah Perriam as another apparently trivial technology story leads her into something much bigger.

This time the problem is not simply what artificial intelligence can do.

It is who owns it.

And what happens when governments build essential services on technology supplied by companies whose primary obligation is not to the public.

Throw in subscription appliances, product teams, smart homes, sovereign AI systems, government procurement, corporate euphemisms and one increasingly annoyed journalist, and things begin to unravel surprisingly quickly.

Still unsure?

Ask yourself one question:

Have you ever shouted at an app, smart device, subscription service or automated customer-support system?

If the answer is yes, there is a reasonable chance Lifetime Subscription was written for you.

If the answer is no, I would genuinely like to know how you have achieved this level of inner peace.
